Between January and March 2026, 8 partners conducted Road Test Events in order to receive feedback on Higher Education European Curricula for Sports Volunteer Manager qualification. Altogether there were 4 events onsite and 7 events online with more than 180 participants.
The purpose of the Road Test Event was to gather structured feedback from experienced sport volunteer managers in order to validate, improve, and enrich the UVMIS Curriculum and pilot training program, while offering participants an opportunity to reflect on their practice and explore future learning pathways.
Across all Road Test Events, participants from diverse sport, education, and associative backgrounds highlighted a shared need to professionalise volunteer management. The mix of theory and practice, as well as the focus on moving from tactical to strategic approaches, was consistently well‑received.
Participants valued the metaphors, the volunteer‑ecosystem framing, and the mix of theory with practical discussion. Real examples shared by associations made concepts tangible, and the volunteer‑energy workshop was especially appreciated for linking motivation, commitment, and belonging to concrete management decisions. Discussions highlighted differences between long‑term and event‑based volunteering, stressing the need to sustain energy through relationships, mission clarity, and collaboration across organisations.
Overall, feedback was positive and confirmed the project’s relevance for strengthening strategic volunteer management in sport.
Very soon project partners will start to organize pilot training sessions!
